CWS Completes Fragment Retention Window Film Installation Project For GC

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Commercial Window Shield has completed a fragment retention window film installation project for a Michigan and Florida-based construction company in a Fort Myers building housing a federal government agency.

Owens-Ames-Kimball has been doing a buildout of one floor of a two-story building for client Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives [ATF].  As part of the project, Commercial Window installed a 7-mil security film with a four-sided wet glaze attachment system to the exterior glass. Additionally, the company installed an 8-mil security film with a two-sided mechanical attachment system to the interior windows. The combination of the two security films will provide superior protection to all ATF windows.

Hurricane Ian

The project commenced following Hurricane Ian’s destructive impact on Florida’s west coast, in particular the Fort Meyers area, resulting in numerous challenges. Commercial Window Shield struggled to find the equipment it needed for the fragment window film installation as well as housing for its installers. But, as usual, the company overcame all the challenges and completed the project on time to the satisfaction of Owens-Ames-Kimball and ATF.

Commercial Window Shield has forged a close working relationship with a number of the country’s leading general contractors, including HITT, Gilbane Building Co., Rand construction, D Watts Construction and DAVIS Construction.
